Parent Volunteers

We have the following volunteer positions open:

  1. Class moms: 1-2 moms assigned to all Princess, Pre-Ballet/Tap, Pre-Ballet and Ballet 1a classes. Moms will sit with classes backstage and in the hallway while they wait to go onstage. Moms may watch from backstage or in a designated spot in the theater. They will need to “pick up” students from backstage and bring them back to the dressing room. Moms will remain in the dressing room with their class until all dancers are picked up.

Time commitment 45 mins before the show (all parents are supposed to arrive half an hour before the show starts and we need all volunteers in place before parents begin to arrive ). Please plan and plan on staying 1/2 hour after the show (all kids will most likely be picked up before then).

Important: Volunteer spots will be on a first come first served basis. In order to give everyone an equal opportunity, please volunteer for your dancer’s class only by Sunday, May 1st. After that date we will open up volunteer position to other DCA moms. Volunteers will receive a $15 credit (the cost of one ticket) on their DCA account and will not need a ticket for the performance for themselves.

  2. Room Monitors – We will need some moms to oversee a few of the level 1 & 1b classes who don’t need much supervision but still need an adult keeping an eye on them. Moms will help bring kids to the stage and wait with them until they go on. Moms may watch from backstage or in a designated spot in the theater. They will need to “pick up” students from backstage and bring them back to the dressing room. Moms will remain in the dressing room with their class until all dancers are picked up.

  3. Ushers – We need parents to greet audience members as they arrive, pass out programs and help any one who needs assistance finding their seat. Time commitment: 45 minutes before the start of the show (doors open half an hour before the show and we need all ushers in place before audience members begin arriving). Volunteers will receive a $15 credit (the cost of one ticket) on their DCA account.
