Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a loving disciplined atmosphere where students are encouraged to develop their dance and performance skills through solid technical training.

Dance Creations Academy was founded in a Fishers, Indiana church in 1993 by Bev Wohrle. She began by choreographing liturgical dance in worship services. At Christmas time she staged young children as “dancing angels” which turned into our first class and dance ministry of 8 girls and boys. We had humble beginnings as a traveling dance studio. She transported 4′ x 6′ portable mirrors and ballet barres in her mini-van to different locations. Since then we have expanded to a beautiful 8000 s.f. building with a faculty of 10 highly qualified instructors and nearly 300 students.

Although we have grown, we still remain a close-knit family of students, parents and teachers keeping active in our community. Students have made life-long friends at the studio.

Our unique contribution as a dance studio in the community is our outreach through our Christian dance ministry. We are committed to following Christian principles in our choices of music, costumes and lyrics. We prepare young dancers not only to pursue excellence in the art of dance through solid professional technical training, but to dance from the heart knowing that dance ability is a gift from God. Students are nurtured in a loving and disciplined atmosphere to live up to their personal best potential.

We serve the recreational student as well as those with professional aspirations. Students may be here for fitness, grace, enjoyment, to become a professional dancer or teacher, to brush up on dance skills for theater or choir or to learn how to use dance for praise & worship.

In addition to regular classes, Dance Creations Academy offers performing opportunities in the community through our Repertory Dance Company/dance ministry. This company dances in church services, Riley Hospital for Children, retirement facilities and at other community events.

Bev retired in 2021 but continues to choreograph for us. In May 2021 Melissa McInnis became the new director.
